Michelle Gonzales is a Latinx multidisciplinary artist in Portland, OR. She reminds herself of this often while navigating stay-at-home orders for the last few months. Oregon-born and raised with a deep appreciation of rain, Portland has been her home for 8 years, working in visual merchandising for a well known chain and going on to open the first Hay store in the US, paint houses, and start her prop and wardrobe styling career. Most recently she has found a new happy place creatively, doing custom artwork and murals for the community. Amid this revolution Gonzales has a standing offer of free custom artwork for BIPoC and feels grateful to share love with anyone who needs a lift up. Continually creating keeps her going in these uncertain times. We recently got to spend some time with Michelle over Zoom, taking some screenshots as she styled herself at home in pieces from Rejina Pyo, Rachel Comey, Collina Strada, Ganni, and other favorites.
