These trousers are inspired by a 1920s novelty advertising banner. The original banner was for The Society brand clothes and was likely intended for a store display. Founded in 1902, the brand manufactured men's suiting in Chicago until 1952. The silhouette is that of a traditional trouser---high rise, straight leg.
